Technical Solution for Stable Performance and Cost Savings
Let’s take a closer look at the technical solution implemented in this project.
The use of SINAMICS S120 servo drives paired with Simotics S-1FK2 servo motors from Siemens for the modernization of the EK-3 wrapping machine was a strategically important step aimed at achieving several key objectives.
Firstly, the use of this equipment significantly improved the accuracy and stability of all the machine’s mechanisms. The SINAMICS S120 provides a high level of dynamics and control precision, which is critical for label feeding operations and the operation of the knife unit. This made it possible to avoid synchronization errors, reduce the number of rejects, and ensure the machine’s high operational stability.
Secondly, the Simotics S-1FK2 servo motors are highly energy-efficient and durable. As a result, energy consumption for operation is reduced, and maintenance and replacement costs for machine components are also lowered.
An additional advantage was the introduction of the SIMATIC HMI TP1200 Comfort visualization panel. This provided operators with a modern interface, significantly simplifying process monitoring and enabling quick responses to any changes while maintaining the machine’s fundamental operating algorithms.
As a result, the chosen comprehensive solution from ELAKS not only achieved high accuracy and stability for the EK-3 wrapping machine but also significantly reduced maintenance costs, lowered energy consumption, increased productivity, and ensured a smooth transition to the modernized system without loss of production efficiency.
