Modernization of Ateliers François high-pressure compressor for PET line
For many industries where compressor equipment plays a critically important role in the production process, modernization is not just an update of automation, but a practical tool for increasing the reliability of the installation, reducing the load on the power grid, and improving the operating conditions of the entire technological unit.
At the Chernihiv branch of PJSC "ABINBEV EFES UKRAINE", the ELAKS team modernized the Ateliers François high-pressure compressor, which ensures the operation of the PET line blow molding machine.
The solution was implemented using frequency control of the 500 kW compressor motor based on the Schneider Electric ATV960 frequency converter. This solution allowed for a smooth engine start-up, reduced mechanical loads on the equipment, operation from backup power sources, reduced impact on the network and created the prerequisites for more economical production.
A separate stage was the modernization of the control system. The outdated solution was replaced with a modern platform using the S7-1200 G2 CPU and Schneider Electric start-up and control equipment. For service personnel, convenient visualization of the compressor and auxiliary equipment status was implemented based on the Siemens MTP1000 Unified Basic SIMATIC HMI panel.
Despite the tight implementation deadlines and limited initial information regarding the already operating unit, the ELAKS team completed the full range of work — from technical preparation, design, equipment delivery and installation to commissioning.
This case shows that compressor equipment modernization can be a practical way to increase production efficiency without completely replacing the existing solution.
