What is a MicroGrid really?
It is a local, intelligent system that acts as a single organism and is based on key elements:
own generation: sun, wind, cogeneration
- BESS - energy storage system
- backup power sources
- external power grid
- PMS/EMS - energy balance management system
- It is the PMS/EMS that decides in real time where to get energy, when to charge the storage, how to reduce consumption peaks and when to switch to island mode.
